Hinge side is not a field-adjustable choice
Left-hinge and right-hinge column refrigerators are separate model numbers on this platform — DRR24980LAP versus DRR24980RAP, for example — and this is not something that can be reversed after the fact the way some appliance doors can be. Confirming the correct hinge side against the kitchen layout before ordering avoids a costly reorder.
Rear clearance affects long-term performance, not just fit
Because the column relies on rear airflow to dissipate heat from its independent compressor, respecting the manufacturer’s specified clearance during installation is not just about physically fitting the unit into the opening — insufficient clearance can produce a compressor that runs constantly without ever reaching temperature, a symptom easily mistaken for a refrigeration problem months after installation.
Coordinating the custom panel front
The visible door front is typically fabricated and installed by a kitchen fitter to match surrounding cabinetry, separate from the appliance installation itself, and getting the reveal gaps even along the top and sides during this step prevents the seal issues that otherwise show up later as condensation or door alarms.
Push-to-Open needs correct alignment from day one
The handle-free Push-to-Open latch depends on the panel front being mounted at the correct depth and angle relative to the appliance door beneath it — a panel installed slightly off from spec can produce a latch that never catches reliably, a problem that traces back to the installation rather than the appliance itself.
