Dacor is a real, independently engineered American brand, not a rebadged import. It was founded in 1965 in Pasadena, California, by Stanley M. Joseph, and remained family owned for three generations before Samsung Electronics America completed its acquisition in September 2016. Samsung said at the time that Dacor would keep its own corporate identity and its own brand, and Dacor still sells its own product line under its own name today. Our independent technicians work on all twelve Dacor appliance categories: ovens, ranges, cooktops, rangetops, range hoods, microwaves, refrigerators, freezers, column refrigeration, wine refrigeration, dishwashers, and the discontinued built-in coffee system. We hold no affiliation to, and no endorsement from, Dacor or its parent company Samsung, and we name both only to describe what we repair. Why the plate matters more than the collection name

The single most useful thing a Dacor owner can learn before booking a repair is which generation their appliance belongs to, because that generation decides the error-code table, the control board, and the part number. Legacy Dacor appliances, sold before the acquisition, ran Dacor’s own proprietary control boards. Samsung-era Dacor appliances, sold from 2016 onward under the Modernist generation and its Contemporary, Transitional, and Professional styles, run different electronics entirely. A range or oven styled to look older is not automatically a Legacy-board unit — some Heritage-collection models, an archived line carrying H-prefix names, shipped well into the Samsung years. The generation is set by the model and serial number stamped on the appliance itself, never by its collection name or its appearance, so that stamp is the first thing our technicians read on any visit.

Four categories that display a real error code

Ovens, ranges, cooktops, and dishwashers are the four Dacor categories that genuinely display an error code, and within each of them the two eras never share a code string. A Legacy oven or range answers with an F-code from its own Classic control board, a Legacy range built on the ER30D, ER36D, or ER48D platform answers with a longer F-code list of its own, a Samsung-era Modernist oven, range, or induction cooktop answers with a C-code instead, and a dishwasher runs a separate scheme again depending on its generation. Reading the wrong table against the wrong platform is the mistake our technicians correct most often before any part is ordered.

Seven categories with no error code at all, and one Dacor discontinued

Dacor’s rangetops, range hoods, microwaves, refrigerators, freezers, column refrigeration, and wine refrigeration publish no alphanumeric error code whatsoever; their manuals describe every condition in plain English, or, on Samsung-era connected models, through four named SmartThings alarms — Self Check, Abnormally High Temperature, Door Open, and Filter Replacement. Fabricated code lists for these seven categories circulate widely online, and we never repeat them. The built-in coffee system is a separate case again: Dacor has removed it from its current lineup entirely, and while it was sold it never used codes at all, only full-sentence display messages.
