No alphanumeric fault code appears in the Dacor column refrigerator manual or the French-door refrigerator manual we reviewed; both describe only four named SmartThings alarms — Self Check, Abnormally High Temperature, Door Open, and Filter Replacement — delivered as plain-language alerts in the connected app, never as a code on the unit itself.
The fabricated codes to ignore
Codes such as 5E, 21E, 22E, 41E, and PC-ER circulate on repair-blog sites for Dacor refrigerators built on Samsung-era electronics, but no Dacor-branded document we reviewed displays any of them to an owner, and the format matches Samsung’s own generic codes rather than a confirmed Dacor source. Treat those strings as unverified.
Symptom-led checks
A unit that runs but will not cool points at the evaporator fan, a frosted-over evaporator, or the sealed system; a side that freezes food suggests a stuck damper; and a silent unit with no compressor sound points at the compressor or its start components. A Door Open alarm sounding with the door shut usually means the door seal itself has failed.
When to call
Check the door seal, the vents, and the drain before assuming a part has failed. Sealed-system work belongs to an experienced technician handling refrigerant under EPA Section 608 rules, with the correct genuine OEM or trusted-supplier part.
