Dacor ranges: collections and lineup
Dacor ranges cover more distinct control-board generations than any other appliance type the brand makes. Classic ERC ranges — the PGR, RSE, RSG, RSD, ERD, MRE, and EGR families — predate the Samsung acquisition and share their error-code table with the Classic wall oven line. The separate ER30D, ER36D, and ER48D technical platform, also Legacy, runs its own longer code list. Samsung-era Modernist Pro ranges, the DOP48M96DL and DOP36M86D, pair six burners with Dual Four-Part Pure Convection and a RealSteam oven cavity, alongside the steam-equipped DOP36C86DLS and DOP48C96DLS and the non-steam DOP36T86DLS, DOP30T940DS, and DOP48T960DS. The archived Heritage collection contributed the HGPR30S all-gas and HIPR30S induction Pro ranges, both Samsung-era-sold under a classic-styled cabinet, and the historic Distinctive line contributed the DR30DNG and DR30GS. Both Heritage-collection ranges are worth noting specifically because they demonstrate the trap this site is built to avoid: a Heritage-badged range does not automatically carry Legacy electronics, since both were sold during the Samsung era behind a classic-styled cabinet front. Stepping up from a 30″ or 36″ range to the 48″ Modernist Pro models buys additional burners and a wider oven cavity rather than a different underlying control system, since every current Samsung-era range shares the identical C-code diagnostic table regardless of width. The bigger practical distinction, as with ovens, is knowing which of the three code families a specific range belongs to — a fact tied to the model and the control board fitted, not to the collection name on the door.
Technologies and features
Dual Four-Part Pure Convection runs two independent convection systems, one per oven cavity, on the larger Modernist Pro ranges, and RealSteam injects steam from an external generator during a bake cycle exactly as it does on the equivalent wall ovens. Perma-Flame automatically reignites a burner that has blown out, a feature useful enough that a fouled igniter defeating it is one of the more common calls we get on a range that otherwise looks completely healthy. Illumina knobs, glowing white whenever their burner is active, and a 7″ WiFi LCD control panel round out the current Modernist Pro feature set. The parts that wear across every era are the burner igniters, the oven door-lock assembly, and the temperature sensor — the same components whether the range in front of us shows an F-code or a C-code.
Perma-Flame is worth understanding on its own terms, since an owner reporting “the burner keeps going out” often assumes the reignition feature itself has failed, when the more common finding is a fouled spark electrode that defeats even a correctly functioning Perma-Flame system entirely.
Common issues and maintenance
Three separate code families exist across the Dacor range lineup, and none of them can be swapped in for another. Classic ERC ranges share F0 through F8 with the wall oven line; the ER-series platform runs its own list from F1 to F95, with several early numbers genuinely conflicting in meaning with the Classic ERC table; and Samsung-era Modernist Pro ranges use the identical C-code table documented for the Samsung-era oven, since range and oven share one electronics platform in that generation. The complaints we see most are a burner that will not stay lit, an oven cavity running hot or cold against its setpoint, a door-lock failure blocking self-clean, and a RealSteam system failing to inject steam.
