These Dacor oven C-30 C-31 PCB problems appear on the Samsung-era Modernist double wall oven platform, documented in the “Information codes” section, and both concern the printed circuit board’s own temperature monitoring rather than the oven cavity itself.
C-30: PCB sensor open or shorted
C-30 means the sensor monitoring the PCB’s own temperature has failed electrically, open or shorted, while the oven is operating. This is documented as High severity, since a control board that cannot reliably monitor its own temperature loses a layer of protection the manufacturer built in deliberately.
C-31: abnormally high PCB temperature
C-31 means the PCB sensor is working correctly but is reading a genuinely abnormal, elevated board temperature. This is also High severity, and unlike C-30 it indicates the sensor itself is functioning — the board is simply running hotter than it should be.
Why this is different from C-20 and C-21
C-20 and C-21, documented separately on the same platform, concern the oven cavity sensor — the one measuring the actual cooking temperature inside the oven — going open, shorted, or abnormally high. C-30 and C-31 instead concern a completely separate sensor monitoring the control board’s own temperature, physically located away from the cooking cavity. Confusing these two sensor pairs sends a repair toward the wrong component.
What can cause a genuinely hot PCB
A cooling-fan failure (documented separately as C-A2) can allow heat to build around the control board that would otherwise be carried away, which is one plausible path toward triggering C-31 even though the fan failure itself displays as a separate code. A board mounted too close to a heat source, or a ventilation path blocked by installation issues, are other possibilities worth a technician considering.
Why C-30 and C-31 warrant prompt attention
Because both concern the board’s own thermal protection, continuing to operate an oven that has flagged either problem risks the control board itself in a way that a cavity-sensor failure, while still worth fixing, does not carry the same immediate risk. This is not a problem worth working around by simply resetting and continuing to use the oven.
When to book service
C-30 or C-31 recurring after a power cycle, especially alongside a separately flagged C-A2 cooling-fan failure, is worth an experienced technician’s prompt diagnosis. Our oven error codes page covers both codes alongside the full Samsung-era table, and our oven appliance page covers current Modernist models. Schedule a visit with the exact code noted, and see Dacor’s own site for current oven specifications.
