The Dacor dishwasher panel handle question has a plain answer from our pages: a panel-ready Dacor dishwasher is built to take a cabinetry-matched front panel over the whole door, and the handle belongs to that panel setup. Our pages do not say a handle is included in the box, and they do not describe what a finish kit contains, so confirm both with your dealer and the installation instructions for your exact model before the panel is made. What the pages do say is that the panel must be sized to the dishwasher’s own door dimensions and that the door-pop mechanism needs clearance in front of it.

Does a Dacor panel-ready dishwasher come with a handle?

We cannot say from our pages, and we would rather say so than guess. A panel-ready dishwasher is designed to disappear behind a front panel that matches your cabinetry. Our page on installing a Dacor panel-ready dishwasher says the top-mounted controls exist specifically because the front-facing door surface is meant to be covered entirely by a cabinetry-matched panel. So the handle, if the design has one, is chosen and fitted as part of that panel, usually by the cabinet maker or installer. Whether a Dacor handle, a pull or a bar comes with the dishwasher or with a finish kit is a question for your dealer and the installation sheet for your model number.

Ask three specific questions before you order the panel. What is supplied with the dishwasher? What is supplied with the finish kit, if you are buying one? And what will the panel maker need from you, such as the door dimensions and the position of any fixing points?

What are the finish kits?

Our model pages list the DDW24G9000APDA as a 24-inch panel-ready dishwasher, and also list two variants with a finish kit: the DDW24G9000APDA-DW-T24PNASR in Silver Stainless and the DDW24G9000APDA-DW-T24PNAMS in Graphite Stainless. Those variants have their own suffixed model numbers. Our pages do not say what each kit contains, and we do not decode the suffix letters; the dealer’s listing or the maker’s documentation is the place to find the parts list. If you want the dishwasher to match stainless appliances nearby, a finish-kit model is the path to ask about. If you want it to match cabinetry, the panel-ready model with your own panel is.

How should the panel be sized?

From the dishwasher itself. Our installation guide says the custom panel needs to be sized to the dishwasher’s specific door dimensions, and that confirming the measurement before fabrication avoids a panel that does not sit flush once installed; a mismatch shows up as an uneven reveal gap, not as a functional problem. We do not give dimensions or weights here, because the right figures come from the installation instructions for your model. Do not size the panel from a general “24-inch dishwasher” assumption, and do not size it from a different Dacor model.

What should you plan around the handle and the door?

Three things. First, clearance: our pages say the AutoRelease door-pop mechanism opens the door slightly at the end of a cycle so moist air leaves and the load dries, and that it needs physical clearance in front of the door to operate. A handle that sticks out, or a cabinet or appliance close in front of the dishwasher, can interfere, so plan the position and the projection of the handle with the clearance in mind and check the instructions. Second, load: the door becomes a panel-loaded door, and our AutoRelease repair guide notes that the mechanism is a small assembly doing a mechanical job on a heavy, panel-loaded door. Follow the instructions for how much weight the door is designed to carry and how the door spring or counterweight is adjusted for it. Third, access: any future service needs the panel removed first, so ask the installer how the panel is secured and keep that information.

Whoever fits the handle should follow the installation instructions for the door. Do not drill, cut or modify the dishwasher’s own door or inner panel yourself; fixing points through a custom panel should follow the maker’s template.

What is unchanged from a standard installation?

The plumbing and electrics. Our installation guide says the water supply, drain and electrical connections of a panel-ready dishwasher are the same as for any standard dishwasher: a dedicated shutoff valve, a properly routed drain line with an air gap or high loop as required locally, and an accessible electrical connection. Those connections should be made by a qualified installer or plumber and electrician, and the panel and handle should not be fitted until the machine is installed, leveled and tested, as the instructions say.

For the wider planning, our page on a panel-ready integrated kitchen explains how the appliances and the cabinetry are designed around each other.

When should you call a technician?

Call if the door will not hold, drops open, will not close flush once the panel is on, or if AutoRelease no longer pops after the panel is fitted. Our guide to the AutoRelease door, repair or live without it explains the choices. If water leaks, switch off the breaker at the panel while standing on a dry floor. The Dacor dishwasher repair page covers what a visit includes.

Frequently asked questions
Does a Dacor panel-ready dishwasher come with a handle?
Our pages do not say. A panel-ready dishwasher is designed to take a cabinetry-matched front panel, and the handle goes with that panel. Confirm what is in the box with your dealer and the installation instructions.
What size should the custom panel be?
It must be sized to the dishwasher’s own door dimensions from the installation instructions for your model, and confirmed before the panel is made.
What are the Silver Stainless and Graphite Stainless finish kits?
They are variants of the DDW24G9000APDA with their own suffixed model numbers. Our pages do not list the parts in a kit, so ask the dealer.
Will a handle affect the AutoRelease door?
The door-pop mechanism needs clearance in front of the door, so plan the handle and its projection with that in mind.
Who should install the panel and handle?
A qualified installer, following the instructions for your model. If you need the installation checked, you can book a visit online.
