Why a recurring ERROR message does not tell you much on its own
The official PCOR30S manual documents ERROR appearing for an incorrect clock time, a weight-sensor cooking failure, and a sensor-cook problem, with no distinct string separating them. A recurring ERROR could mean something as minor as a clock that will not hold its setting, or something as significant as a failing sensor system — the message alone does not distinguish between a five-minute fix and a genuine repair-versus-replace conversation.
What favors repair
If ERROR appears specifically and consistently tied to the clock setting, or if it appears only during sensor-cook presets while manual time-cook continues to work normally, that points toward a narrower, less expensive component issue worth repairing rather than replacing the whole unit. This is especially true on a drawer or OTR configuration that is otherwise functioning normally in every other respect.
What favors replacement
If the microwave will not heat at all despite the turntable running, if sparking occurs during operation, or if ERROR appears regardless of what function is attempted, that points toward a more significant problem — potentially the magnetron or main control board — where the repair cost relative to the unit’s age and remaining service life may favor replacement instead.
Why the OTR configuration adds a wrinkle
Because the PCOR30S also provides range-hood ventilation, replacing it is not simply a microwave decision — losing ventilation during a replacement period, or choosing a repair specifically to avoid a ventilation gap, is worth factoring in that a standalone drawer microwave replacement would not involve.
