Every Dacor legacy samsung era repair question comes back to a single mechanical fact: Dacor’s pre-2016 control platforms and its current Samsung-era Modernist platforms are built by different engineering teams, on different hardware, and they share no error codes, no control-board architecture, and no diagnostic logic whatsoever.
What actually changed in 2016
Samsung Electronics America announced its agreement to acquire Dacor in August 2016, with the sale closing the following month. Samsung stated Dacor would maintain its own brand and identity, and it has — Dacor still sells its own product line under its own name — but the electronics underneath current appliances are built on Samsung’s platforms, evidenced directly by internal manual filenames using Samsung’s own project-code and part-number formats.
Why this determines the repair, not just the paperwork
A Legacy oven’s ERC board runs an entirely different self-diagnostic system than a Samsung-era Modernist oven’s Main and Sub PBA architecture — an F1 “System Watchdog” problem on the Legacy platform and a C-F0 communication problem on the Samsung-era platform describe conceptually similar problems on completely different hardware, and a part or diagnostic step from one table has no application to the other.
Why “Heritage” does not answer this question
Heritage is a real, now-archived Dacor collection name, not a synonym for the Legacy era — some Heritage-branded products, with their own H-prefix model numbers, were sold into the Samsung era behind classic-styled cabinetry. A Heritage-labeled range tells you about its exterior design, not which control board sits behind it; only the model and serial number settle that question.
Where this distinction is most visible
Dishwashers are the clearest example: Legacy EDW/IDW units run F-1 through F-9 codes on a water-presence-sensor architecture, while Samsung-era Modernist units run LC/4C/5C/HC/3C/PC/AP codes, with 4C and 5C being exact string matches to Samsung’s own published dishwasher codes — proof the two systems were built independently, not as a renamed continuation of one another.
