One zone reading several degrees warmer than its setpoint while the other zone holds correctly is a single-zone problem — a zone-specific sensor, damper, or airflow issue — not evidence the whole cooling system has failed.
How to confirm which zone is actually affected
Check the displayed temperature for each zone against its own individually set target, rather than comparing the two zones to each other, since a dual-zone unit is often deliberately set to different temperatures for red versus white wine storage. A zone reading a few degrees off its own setpoint is the one worth investigating; a zone that simply looks warmer than its neighbor because it was intentionally set warmer is not a problem at all.
What causes a single zone to drift
A blocked internal vent between zones, shelves loaded heavily enough to obstruct airflow within one zone specifically, or a door seal issue localized to that zone’s section of the cabinet are the most common single-zone causes. Note which zone’s display looks off alongside whatever the app alarm says, since combining both pieces of information gives a technician a clearer starting point.
