Heritage Is a Collection, Not a Generation

The Dacor Heritage collection era mix-up is the single most common mistake made about this brand, and getting it wrong can send a repair down the wrong path entirely.

The Dacor Heritage collection era mix-up is the single most common mistake made about this brand, and getting it wrong can send a repair down the wrong path entirely.

The Dacor Heritage collection era question comes up constantly, and the honest answer is that Heritage is a real, now-archived Dacor product collection — not a stand-in for “everything built before 2016.”

What Heritage actually was

Heritage was a genuine Dacor collection spanning ranges, cooktops, wall ovens, grills, and refrigeration, sold under H-prefix model numbers such as HGPR30S, HIPR30S, HRTP486SLPH, and HWO130FS. Dacor’s own archived product pages, now returning 404s after being pulled from live navigation, described it as an artisan-styled line covering “all of your kitchen needs.” Parts records show discontinuation activity on Heritage-specific consumables by June 2020, which places the collection’s wind-down well after Samsung’s 2016 acquisition closed, not before it.

The trap: some Heritage SKUs are Samsung-era electronics

This is the part nearly every repair site gets wrong. Heritage was a classic-styled aesthetic, not a promise about what is inside the cabinet. Some Heritage-branded appliances were sold into the Samsung era — meaning a range with a Heritage-styled front panel is not automatically running a Legacy control board. Assuming otherwise, and ordering a Legacy ERC board for what turns out to be a Samsung-era Heritage-styled range, is a real and avoidable mistake.

A second, unrelated wrinkle

To make matters more confusing, Samsung’s own asset-hosting system files the current, SmartThings-connected 24-inch wine column under a PDF filename containing the word “Heritage,” even though dacor.com’s live product page for that identical SKU calls its design “Contemporary Style.” This appears to be an internal document-management naming artifact left over from an older asset taxonomy, not a claim that the wine column belongs to the archived Heritage collection. Why Samsung’s system still tags it this way is not something Dacor has explained publicly.

The correct way to talk about the two generations

On this site, and in any accurate discussion of Dacor, the two control-board generations are called Legacy Dacor (pre-2016) and Samsung-era Dacor (2016 onward). “Heritage” is reserved for the archived collection name and nothing else. The honest instruction for any Dacor owner: the generation your appliance belongs to is determined by its model and serial number, never by its collection name and never by how it looks in the kitchen.

Why this matters for a repair

A technician quoting a part or reading an error code needs the actual generation, not an assumption based on styling. If your appliance carries an H-prefix model number, treat that as a collection identifier worth mentioning, but pair it with the model and serial number so the correct code table and board family get checked. Our model directory and guide library cover both generations in more detail, and scheduling a visit with your full model number avoids ordering the wrong board. Dacor’s own site no longer lists the Heritage collection, which is itself a useful data point when dating an appliance.
