TL;DR: To reset a Dacor oven, switch it off at the circuit breaker for a full minute, switch it back on and set the clock. A code that returns, a dark display or an oven that will not heat needs a technician, not more resets.

Here is how to reset a Dacor oven: stop any cook cycle, switch the oven off at the circuit breaker for a full minute, switch it back on and set the clock again. That is the reset our pages recommend for a communication code and for the glitches that follow a power flicker, and it does not change any permanent setting. It will not repair a real fault: a code that returns right away, a display that stays dark or an oven that will not heat is telling you something that a reset cannot fix. If your model has a button-based reset or a clear-and-reset sequence, it is described in the owner’s manual for that model, and we do not give one here because it differs by model.

Standard resetBreaker off for a full minute, back on, then set the clock
Flashing clock after an outageNormal; set the clock and restart the cook
C-F0 or C-F2 (Samsung-era)Board communication fault; power-cycle at the breaker once
F1 to F8 (Legacy ERC)Bare F plus one digit; reset once, repeated codes need service
Dark or dim displayA symptom, not a code; check the breaker first
Gas smell (gas range)Do not reset; leave the home and call the gas utility or 911 from outside

How do you reset a Dacor oven?

Switch the oven off at its display if it is on, cancel any timed bake, and find the circuit breaker that feeds it. Switch the breaker off, count a full minute, and switch it back on. Our Dacor oven C-F0 page gives the same instruction, a power cycle at the breaker for a full minute, because a dropped connection can sometimes reseat itself after a full reset. When the power returns, the clock may flash, which is normal. Set the clock, restart a short cook and watch that the oven heats. If it does, the reset worked. Do not keep resetting if the code returns, since each reset hides the pattern a technician would like to see. Switch off the breaker from a dry floor with dry hands.

Which oven generation do you have?

The reset is the same, but what a returning code means is not, because Dacor has two oven generations that never share an error-code string. Legacy Classic ERC wall ovens show a bare F followed by a single digit, F0 through F8. Samsung-era Modernist double wall ovens show a dash-formatted code that starts with C, such as C-F0. A model that starts with DOB, DOP, DOC, DTI or DTG is Samsung-era, and our guide on which generation of Dacor you have explains how to confirm it. Our Dacor oven F-codes versus C-codes page lists both tables. Note exactly how the code is formatted on your display before you reset it, because the format tells the technician which table to open.

What does a reset do after a power outage?

After an outage or a surge, an oven or range will usually show a flashing clock and cancel any timed bake. Our power-outage guide says that is normal and not a fault: set the clock, restart the cook and check that it heats. If a communication code appears right after the outage, a surge may have broken the link between boards, and the guide’s advice is to switch the appliance off at the breaker for a full minute and restore it. That clears many such glitches. Read the full checklist in Dacor power outage recovery, which also covers the refrigerator, the cooktop and connected features.

What if the display is dark and not responding?

That is a symptom, not a code. Our page for a Dacor oven display that is dim or blank says a panel that will not light usually has no power at all, so no code can show, and the most frequent cause is upstream of the oven: a tripped house breaker or a loose power connection. Reset any tripped breaker feeding the oven, check whether other outlets or appliances on the same circuit work, and wait a minute before you judge the result. If the display stays dark or dim after that, the display module, the board’s power supply or the wiring may have failed, and that is a job for a technician. Read the page on a Dacor oven display that is dim or blank.

When should you not reset it?

Do not reset, and switch the oven off at the breaker, if there is a burning smell, smoke, sparks or any sign of damage to the cord or the wall connection. On a gas range, if you smell gas, do not touch switches, do not light anything and do not use a phone indoors: leave the home and call your gas utility or 911 from outside. Do not restart an oven that has shown a heating-related code several times in a row. Do not open the back or the control panel to reach a connector. A code on a double wall oven that affects only one cavity is worth noting, since that detail helps a technician. A repeated F5 or F6 on a Legacy oven, or a persistent C-F0 or C-30 on a Samsung-era oven, points toward a board-level repair rather than a reset, according to our code comparison page.

When should you call a technician?

Call if the same code returns after one clean reset, if the oven will not heat, if the door lock will not release or if the display stays dark with the breaker on. Have the full model number and the code, exactly as shown, ready. Our door lock codes page covers the lock codes, and our Dacor oven repair page explains what a visit covers.

Frequently asked questions
How do I reset my Dacor oven?
Switch it off at the circuit breaker for a full minute, switch it back on and set the clock. If your model has a button-based reset, the owner’s manual describes it.
Why is the clock flashing on my Dacor oven?
After a power interruption the clock flashes and a timed bake is canceled. That is normal; set the clock and restart the cook.
What does C-F0 mean on a Dacor oven?
It is a Samsung-era code for a communication failure between the main and sub control boards. Power-cycle at the breaker for a full minute, and call a technician if it returns.
Will a reset fix a Dacor oven that will not heat?
Only if the problem was a glitch. If the oven will not heat after one clean reset, or a heating code returns, a part needs testing.
When should I call a technician?
Call if a code returns after a reset, the display stays dark with the breaker on or you smell burning or gas. You can book a visit online.
