TL;DR: After a Dacor power outage or surge, most appliances come back on their own, but some need a reset, a clock setting or a restart of the connected features. Work through the kitchen in order: check the breaker, let the refrigeration restart, reset the oven and cooktop controls and re-register connected appliances. A code that appears right after the outage is often a communication glitch and clears with a breaker reset.

Dacor kitchens are packed with electronics: touch panels, control boards, connected features and motors. A flicker or a full outage can interrupt any of them mid-task. Most owners meet the same pattern afterwards: a flashing clock, a refrigerator that is warm, a cooktop with a code, an app that says offline. This guide to a Dacor power outage is the checklist for the morning after. It covers what to do in what order, what is normal, and what means a part was hurt by the surge. It applies to Dacor ovens, ranges, cooktops, refrigerators, freezers, wine columns and dishwashers.

What should I check first after a power outage?

Start at the panel. A surge or overload can trip a breaker, and a tripped breaker looks exactly like a dead appliance. Reset any tripped breaker fully off and then on. Look for a GFCI or AFCI device feeding the kitchen circuits and reset it. Then do not rush through the kitchen switching everything on. Give the house a minute to settle, because several heavy loads starting at once can trip the circuit again.

Next, assess refrigeration, because food is at stake. Open nothing unnecessarily. A closed refrigerator keeps food cold for several hours and a closed freezer for much longer. Check that the lights, display and fans come on. A compressor may take several minutes to restart after power returns, because refrigeration systems delay the start to protect the compressor. Do not unplug and replug repeatedly.

Breaker or GFCI trippedReset fully off then on. Repeated tripping means a fault; stop and call.
Refrigerator, freezer, wine columnAllow several minutes to restart. Check the temperature after a few hours.
Oven or range clock flashingNormal after an outage. Set the clock and cancel any interrupted cook.
Cooktop shows a codeSwitch off at the breaker for a minute and restore. UP points to the supply voltage.
App shows appliance offlineRestart the router and re-register the appliance if needed.

How do I recover the refrigeration?

Give the unit time, then verify. Wait a few hours and put an appliance thermometer inside: a refrigerator should read at or below 40 degrees Fahrenheit and a freezer at 0 degrees. If food stayed in a closed unit for a short outage, it is generally fine; for a long outage, apply normal food safety judgment and discard what has warmed. A connected Dacor may send a temperature alarm after an outage, which is expected. Our guide to the abnormally high temperature alarm explains how to read it.

If the unit does not restart after thirty minutes, or it hums without cooling, the surge may have hurt a control board or a start component. Switch it off at the breaker, leave the door closed to protect the contents, move food to another freezer if you can and book service. Do not keep cycling the power.

A tripped breaker looks like a dead appliance, so check the panel first.

What happens to the oven, range and cooktop?

An oven or range will usually show a flashing clock and cancel any timed bake. That is normal and not a fault. Set the clock, restart the cook and watch that it heats. If a communication code appears, for example on the range or oven, a surge may have broken the link between boards. Switch the appliance off at the breaker for a full minute and restore it, which clears many such glitches. Our guides to range communication problems and oven F-codes versus C-codes help you read what appears.

For an induction cooktop, the voltage matters. The UP code on this site means the supply is outside the 208 to 240 volt range the cooktop needs; after an outage or utility work, it can appear while the supply is unstable. Wait and try again, and if it persists, have the circuit checked. See the A2 and UP codes guide for the detail. Gas appliances: if you smell gas at any time, leave and call your gas utility.

How do I restore connected features?

After an outage, the router may restart slowly or lose its settings, and connected Dacor appliances drop off. Restart the router first and give it time. Then check each appliance in the app; if one stays offline, remove it and add it again as described in our Dacor connected appliance setup guide. Keep the phone close to the appliance during pairing. An appliance that is offline is not necessarily broken, and the app status is a separate matter from the appliance working.

When does a surge mean a repair?

Signs of surge damage are a display that stays dark, a code that returns after a breaker reset, a refrigerator that does not restart, a burning smell or an appliance that trips the breaker. These point to a board, a power supply or a motor, and they need testing. Protect the rest of the kitchen by installing surge protection and avoid power cycling a damaged unit repeatedly. Frequently asked questions
Why is my Dacor oven clock flashing after a power outage?
The control lost power and has to be reset. Set the clock and restart any cooking. It is normal and not a fault.
How long should a Dacor refrigerator take to restart after an outage?
Several minutes, because the compressor delays its start to protect itself. If it has not restarted after about thirty minutes, switch it off at the breaker and book service.
Why does my Dacor induction cooktop show UP after a storm?
UP means the supply voltage is outside the 208 to 240 volt range. It can appear while the supply is unstable. If it persists, have the circuit checked.
Do I need to re-pair my Dacor appliance after an outage?
Sometimes. Restart the router first. If the app still shows the appliance offline, re-register it. Book a visit if it will not reconnect.
