This configuration suits a kitchen wanting a substantial, professional-style hood as a visible design feature above the cooking surface.
Chimney wall hood
The DHD30U990WS is a chimney wall hood, with a taller adjustable height range of 30.25 to 42 inches at 24 inches deep. This configuration suits ceilings where the hood needs to telescope to fit the specific ceiling height, a common need in kitchens without a standard 8-foot ceiling.
Liner insert
The DHD36U790LS, DHD30U790LS, and DHD48U790LS are liner inserts, a slim 5.44-inch-high unit meant to be concealed inside custom cabinetry or a decorative hood enclosure built by a kitchen designer, rather than being visible as a finished hood itself. This suits a kitchen design where the visible hood exterior is a custom millwork element and the Dacor unit provides only the ventilation mechanics inside it.
Matching the hood to your rangetop or range
If you are also selecting a rangetop, remember that a rangetop has no integrated ventilation of its own, so the hood needs to be sized specifically for that rangetop’s width and burner count. A range, by contrast, may already include some ventilation consideration in cabinetry planning, but a properly sized hood remains worth confirming regardless of appliance type.
